Super Eagles of Nigeria have been drawn along South Africa, Benin Republic, Lesotho, Zimbabwe and Rwanda in Group C for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The draws ceremony was held on Thursday in Abidjan, Cote’d’Ivoire.
Nigeria failed to qualified for the last year’s World Cup in Qatar having lost to their West African arch rival Ghana in the Play-Offs.
The Eagles will square up with West African neighbors Benin Republic coached by former Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr since he was relieved from his duties two years ago.
Nigeria will have the chance to qualify automatically if they top the group games for the expanded World Cup to be co-hosted by Canada, Mexico and USA.
The winners from each group qualify for the tournament proper with the 10th team qualify via Play-off process.
Meanwhile, the four best runner-up will be draw in a mini play off to find one extra team that will advance to the continental Play-offs.
The first round games is billed to take place November 13-21, 2023.
