Grassroot Sport have been described as the bedrock of future and where it can be thrive.
The Chairman Technical Nigeria Squash Racquet Federation, Alh. Yusuf Durosilorun made the assertion while speaking with newsmen at the just concluded 5th Ex-Pro Squash Tournament for U-11, 13 and 17 in Ilorin, capital of Kwara State on Saturday.
Alh. Durosilorun noted that, every sports has it future at the grassroots which is very imperative to dig dip and catch every athletes at a tender age to aid their developments for them compete with their contemporaries in the world.
He said “everybody knows that, every sports has its future and future of every game lies at the grassroots and its very important to go back to the grassroots”
He expressed his delight for organizing tournament of this magnitude in Ilorin.
Kwara-born veteran Squash player, confirmed the Squash Court as the best in the country and West Africa.
He appreciated, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRasak for providing enabling environment and world class edifice for the tournament and to aid the development of the game.
Durosilorun who is also double as the Representative of North Central Zone Board of Nigeria Squash Racquet Federation, assured that the tournament will serve as a preparation ahead of the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, stressing that they are going there to win medals.
Alh. Yusuf Durosilorun however concluded that, sports is a unifying factor and youths involving in it will achieve through it.
The 5th Ex-Pro Squash Tournament which was organized by Ex Squash Players Association of Nigeria in conjunction with Kwara State Sports Commission started on Thursday 15th and ends on Saturday 17th August, 2024.
