President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) Engr. Habu Gumel has promised that Federal Government will support the game of Teqball in Nigeria.
Engr. Habu Gumel, who was the leader of the Nigeria Contingent for the 2nd African Beach Games made this statement when he visited the Nigeria Teqball Team in El Mouradi Hotel in Hammamet, Tunisia.
The President, Nigeria Teqball Federation (NIGTEQ) ensured that further development of the sport and adequate preparation will be made for the athletes participation in the World Beach Games slated for Indonesia in August 2023, if their Hammamet achievement eventually qualify them for the event.
Gumel appreciated the athletes on their landmark achievement of winning one gold, and two silver medals for Nigeria in the sports first major championship appearance in the continents.
General Secretary of Nigeria Teqball Federation Mr Ndudi Edede while speaking, thanked the President for his surprise visit to the team camp, adding that it is a huge motivation to the athletes.
He assured the president of excellent performance each time her athletes represent Nigeria in any events.
Mr Ndudi also noted that the Federation has worked so hard to take the sports to the level it is in Nigeria at the moment.
Nigeria Teqball Team came first among the 12 Nations that participated in the men’s single, men’s doubles and mix doubles categories in Teqball events in the 2nd Africa Beach Games in Hammamet, Tunisia 2023.
