Oluwafemi Ayokunle Ladeinde, the skilled, combative, aggressive and gallant defender of Inter Lagos Football Club in Lagos, also known as “Terminator” shared his journey in the beautiful game and emphasized football as a most important thing in his life.
The Abeokuta-born defender disclosed this during an interview with Latest City News reporter Michael Odetunde on Thursday, April 4, 2024.
” I started quite late I will say so but at the same time I’m glad at least am doing what I love most which is to play football professionally, that’s most important thing for me and am glad I’m living my dream ” He revealed.
Ayokunle who started football in his early days at primary school and was former player of Box-to-Box FC highlighted that, it’s been a challenge being a footballer as he got no supports from his family.
Regarding his trials in 2019 in Czech Republic through a sporting program at Legacy, he said he had never thought of traveling out of the country, noting that it was a dream come true for him.
He also shared that he lost his concentration when his father died in 2019, stressing that it was a tough challenge experience for him during his time at FFK Skalica in Slovakia.
He praised Box- to-Box FC as a club who helped him in discovering himself and to showcase his worth, using the club as a stepping stone to develop his career as a footballer.
While speaking on the defeat against Ikorodu City FC in the Final of the 2024 Lagos State Federation Cup, he noted that it was tough and painful for the team losing to their opponents, despite giving their best in the encounter.
Ayokunle, a left footed center back, also reiterated that, he was proud of the team despite losing the final to Ikorodu City FC, saying it was a happy moments making it to the final in their first ever season and to the national FA Cup.
The former FFK Skalica, while expressing his sadness during his time at Sporting Lagos, said he was depressed after he was dropped from the team, despite playing a major role in the playoff and helping the club gaining the promotion to the topflight, but thanking God for finding himself and proving what is capable off at Inter Lagos.
He said he was excited his team eliminated Sporting Lagos in the semifinals of the FA Cup, by playing a pivotal role getting his former club eliminated from the competition.
He stressed that, it was painful, losing the final to Ikorodu City because one of his dreams is to win the FA Cup at Inter Lagos.
Ayokunle also avowed that, his dreams is to play for Arsenal Football Club in London, but his major aim is to help Inter Lagos gain promotion to the apex league, saying with hard work, resilience and determination it is achievable.
He also said that, playing in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) would not be bad as this was another dream that want to achieve, noting that it will also boost his profile playing in the top tier league as a footballer.
The center back who hails from Abeokuta-North, Ogun State described Inter Lagos as a beautiful, family club full of enthusiasm, love and respect from the owners, general manager, team manager, head coach, assistant coach and the teammates.
He described his memorable moments as when he was traveled out of the country because no one ever believes in his dreams, forcing his ways to get there through hard work, resilience and determination.
He however credited his former coaches coach Sanjo who was the previous coach at Sporting Lagos and Paul Offor currently at Sporting Lagos and coach Gabriel at Inter Lagos, praising them exceptionally for always pushing him to be at his best, describing them as great coaches who have impacted his career positively.
