A young and promising footballer, Abimbola Olaoluwa has explained her aim of becoming a great footballer that will rise from grassroots to the international level and represent Nigeria.
Olaoluwa, a 300 level Student of the department of Agricultural Economics, Obafemi Awolowo University OAU, Ile Ife revealed this during a media chat with news men.
Abimsuzzie, as she is fondly called , explained that her elder brothers motivated her to develop an interest in football at a tender age by introducing her to some of their street football settings.
The young female footballer who is currently playing with OAU Giantess as a central back, revealed some challenges she faced in the round leather career and her parents’ reaction to her move.
“Challenges that I can say I faced so far is how the football almost affected my education, I had to quit at a point and focused on how I will gain admission and later, when I gained admission, the round leather game journey continues and my parents also support me so far it’s not affecting my education”. She said.
The Oyo state born footballer explained that her focus is to play from grassroots to higher level by playing for the Nigerian female team and make her parents proud, adding that she believes she will definitely achieve her dream.
Olaoluwa pointed out Asisat Oshoala, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, and Wayne Rooney as her role models in the game of soccer.
While commending the grassroots coaches in Nigeria, she appealed to the government, both state and at the federal level to invest in grassroot football to rescue the raw football talents from getting lost.
