It has always been my dream since childhood to be a goalkeeper and one of the tools that drive me showcasing my talents and develop career in it.
Jimoh Muftaudeen made this known during a media chat with a journalist on Sunday.
Muftaudeen who started his goalkeeping career in his community right from childhood, said that one of the grassroots coach discovered him after a sumptuous performance while keeping.
The goalkeeper who plays for Okaa Sports Football Club Ilorin, stated that he is always feel happy anytime he is on the pitch ” why I chose football as a favorite sport, is that I feel happy while I am on the pitch” He said.
Muftaudeen who hails from Aluku-Ojutaye, Alalubosa Oke Oyi, Ilorin East in Kwara State, explained that, he was discovered by a grassroots coach, where he took him to his father, which his father supported before his demise.
The Ilorin born shot-stopper who takes Abdulateef Ishola the goalkeeper of Kwara United FC as mentor and Manuel Neuer of Bayern Munich as role model, explained that one of the challenges as a goalkeeper as been financial aspects.
He further explained that pressure from his peer group who have gotten married and having children is another challenges he faced.
But said that, that does not stopping him chasing his dreams as he is getting moral and financial support from the founder of “Inyass Goalkeeper Academy” Alh Abdullahi, Chairman Okaa Sports Football Club/Okaa Sports Ventures Alh. Adelodun Abdullahi and from his mother through prayers.
Muftaudeen who is an Arsenal fan also noted, that his dreams and aspirations is to play in the NPFL and in Premier League for the North London Club Arsenal.
While he was asked about his thoughts on education, he said education is one the best legacy parent can give their children and he is in full support of it.
” I’m in full support of education, it is the best legacy parents can give their children.” Muftaudeen said.
The Okaa Sports Football Club goalkeeper, however urged the organisers/stakeholders to continue to organize a grassroots competitions, stating that it is the best place to discover talents and harness them to the world.
He explained that one of his best performance in a tournament was at the El Adol Football Competition, where he took his team to the final.
Muftaudeen Jimoh has won several individual awards from cash, gloves and certificate in different tournaments and his looking forward to win more individually and as a team.
