NPFL: Remo Stars Sodiq Ismail Wins Best Defender Of The Season

Super Eagles and Remo Stars mercurial right-back Sodiq Ismail has won NPFL best defender of the season.

Sodiq was bestowed with the award at League Bloggers Awards in Lagos.

The 20-year-old registered 13 assists in 2023/24 NPFL season.

Sodiq beats Adelowo Gbolagade (3SC) and Onyebuchi Ifeanyi (Rangers Int’l) to the award.

He recorded an outstanding performance for Ikenne-based in the NPFL last season.

His assists contributions helped Remo Stars secure CAF Champions League this season.

The defender’s quality is his impeccable crosses which have been consistently turned into goals by the club’s strikers.

Sodiq was handed his debut call-ups by Finidi’s 23-man list for 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic and made his debut as a substitute against Benin Republic.

Ogbomoso-born defender is ready to light up the 2024/25 NPFL season.

Remo Stars will square up with Abia Warriors in the opening fixture of the 2024/25 NPFL season.
