Aisha AbdulRaheem of Team Kwara secured a major win in squash at the 8th National Youth Games, defeating Zainab Ishola of Team Lagos in a tightly contested match, 3 sets to 2.
After losing focus due to distractions from the crowd, Aisha managed to regain her composure thanks to a pep talk from her coaching crew, ultimately winning the final set 11-6 to claim the title in the girls’ singles final.
Aisha who was emotional after her eventual triumph, acknowledged the challenges but assured that more medals are to come.
Coach Isiaka Magaji commented on how other participants were eager to beat Kwara but praised his team’s focus and determination for leading them to victory.
“Everybody wants to beat Kwara by all means but we are determined to sustain our pedigree in the game ”
He added that Team Kwara will remain focused as the doubles event approaches.
