Nigerians Paid The Ultimate Price With Their Lives For Democracy Struggle – Hon. Alao-Akala

The June 12 democracy day in Nigeria has been described as a day that holds a special place in the hearts of Nigerians as it represents the struggle and sacrifice of our fore fathers we are enjoying today.

Member-Elect Federal House of Representatives Ogbomoso North/South/Orire Federal Constituency Hon. Olaminjuwonlo Alao-Akala made this statement on his twitter on Monday June 12, 2023.

Hon. Alao-Akala stated that the struggle for democracy did not come easy as many Nigerians paid the ultimate price with their lives, while others were imprisoned and exiled, but added that their sacrifice was not in vain as it paved the way for the eventual return of democracy in 1999.

He further stated that celebration of democracy day, is not about elections or political parties, that it is about putting the needs and aspirations of the people first as it is the government of the people, by the people and for the people.

The Ogbomoso born Politician charged Nigerians that democracy required active participations and engagement and must hold their leaders accountable and demand transparency, accountability and good governance.

Hon. Alao-Akala further charged Nigerians to use this day to renew our hope and commitment to democracy and to build a better Nigeria for ourselves and future generations.
