Adeyemi FC Defender Habeeb Taiwo Aims High for European Clubs RB Leipzig, RB Salzburg

Habeeb Taiwo, the skilled and gallant defender of Adeyemi Football Club in Ibadan, also known as “Teebhooyarh,” shared his journey in the beautiful game and emphasized football as a culture that exposed him to the world beyond his family.

The Ilorin-born defender disclosed this during an interview on “One on One with Ijoba Sports” on Twitter Space on Friday, March 29, 2024.

“My family has been a blessing to my football career. I received strong support mentally, physically, and financially, making the decision to choose football as a career easy for me. I am grateful for my parents’ support; I have never once regretted becoming a footballer,” he revealed.

Taiwo highlighted that discipline and hard work have been his guiding principles, emphasizing his aspiration to captain the national team in both the AFCON and World Cup.

Regarding his European club aspirations, the Adeyemi FC player acknowledged Bayern Leverkusen, RB Leipzig, and RB Salzburg as clubs on his radar, stating that they provide excellent opportunities for players to develop their careers.

He described Adeyemi FC as a family club full of potential players, providing opportunities for players to thrive in their footballing careers.

When questioned about the influences that led him to pursue a career in football, the athlete cited his brother, who now serves as his coach at Adeyemi FC, as a significant inspiration. He also credited his parents for instilling a love of the sport in him from a young age. Growing up in the vibrant community of Shasha in Ibadan, he highlighted the pervasive presence of football and noted that becoming a footballer felt almost inevitable amidst a backdrop of so many aspiring players.

Reflecting on their loss against Shooting Stars in the Oyo State Federation Cup semifinal at Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Taiwo noted that the team fought hard with passion, commitment, and determination.

He credited his elder brother, Gbadegeshin Yusuf, a member of Adeyemi FC’s coaching staff, as a wonderful influence who guided him in the right direction in the world of football.

Despite the familial connection in his professional journey, the player emphasized that the dynamic with his brother-coach is primarily focused on hard work and improvement rather than sentimentality. He stressed the importance of putting in the effort required to succeed on the field, acknowledging that his brother’s guidance has been beneficial in honing his skills.

Expressing his unwavering dedication to his career, the Taiwo emphasized that he remains steadfastly focused on the goals he has set for himself. In the face of any external influences, he asserted his commitment to staying on track and pursuing his ambitions with a determined and resolute mindset.

Taiwo further advised young footballers not to relent, urging them to continue working hard and demonstrating commitment to achieve their goals in the beautiful game.
