The Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara Government, Rafiu Ajakaye, has given his nod to the Kwara Closed Table Tennis Tournament, underscoring the state’s commitment to becoming a central hub for sports in Nigeria.
Ajakaye made the endorsement during the courtesy visit by the organizers to the government house ahead of the commencement of the tournament in Ilorin, the state capital.
The Kwara Closed Table Tennis tournament will commence on August 10 with the arrival and registration of athletes.
Speaking at the visit, Ajakaye praised the tournament and its organizers saying it is a platform for young athletes to showcase their raw talents and in the coming years Kwara state will be unbeatable in sporting activities.
Ajakaye emphasized the importance of sports in Kwara State, adding that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq is a sports man and he will provide every necessary facility for sports growth in the state highlighting the newly established Squash Court, as the best in West Africa.
“We believe Kwara State will become a center for sports excellence, in the years to come” he stated, underscoring the government’s dedication to developing top-notch sports facilities to aid the efforts of athletes at all strata.
He lauded the tournament’s role in fostering young talent and helping participants stay away from social vices. “This tournament is an excellent opportunity for young athletes to display their skills and stay out of trouble, avoiding issues like drug abuse, internet fraud, and other social vices,” Ajakaye said.
The Kwara Closed Table Tennis Tournament is set to commence on August 10, with the closing ceremony scheduled for August 11. Prizes will be awarded to the top three performers, celebrating their achievements and encouraging further participation in sports.
On her part the spokesperson for Kwara Closed table tennis tournament Moyinoluwa Bankole appreciated the present administration for their unwavering support saying it is a total departure from the past, and has drastically changed the face of sport in Kwara state. She applauded Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye for being a supportive father who is willing to open his doors for people anytime.
