10% Of NPFL Players Leaves League During The 2023/24 NPFL Long Mid-Season Break For A Greener Pastures

As the second stanza of the 2023/24 NPFL season set to begin across match venues this weekend.

Some NPFL players have moved abroad to different clubs to pursue their career and search for the greener pastures.

Latest City News, sports reporter Michael Odetunde writes about the NPFL players who have left the shores of the country either for lucrative deals or an attractive salary.

The first player on the list is Isah Ali, who had left Remo Stars to CD Feirense the segunda league in Portugal.

One of the best players in the Nigeria apex league Benjamin Tanimu has also left for greener pastures to East African leaving Bendel Insurance to IHEFU the club based in Tanzania.

The promising defender was part of the team of Bendel Insurance that lifted the Aiteo Cup in 2023 and defeated Enugu Rangers in the final.

Also in the midst is Robert Mizo who left Bayelsa United to join big side Al Hilal in Libya.

He won the NLB rookie awards of the year in 2023 for his exploits for Yenogoa based side.

Household name, Andy Okpe has also departed the NPFL to pursue his career, moving to South Africa based club Supersport United from River United.

Recall Okpe joined Rivers United from Remo Stars before the commencement of the league season to open the door for the move to abroad.

Chris Nwaeze was in cloud nine after he also completed his move to Ukraine joining Zorya Luhansk from Plateau United.

Bello Lukman was also among the players that left NPFL as he joined Club Athletique of Tunisia from Katsina United.

Another NPFL player that left the shores of the country is Kareem Ayinde who had left 3SC to join up with his new teammates at Ceramica Cleopatra the club based in Egypt.

More players could also leave before the second stanza of the league begins this weekend.
