Lagos State Government Announces Road Diversion At Odo Iya Aláró Bridge For 90-Days

The Lagos state government has announced a 90-day traffic diversion for motorists on the Odo Iya Alaro Bridge, which will commence on Monday, July 22.

According to a statement on Thursday, July 18, the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, stated that the diversion is due to the deplorable state of the asphalt pavement and expansion joints on the Odo Iya Alaro Bridge noting that the diversion would be in two phases.

The statement reads: “The Lagos State Government will divert traffic at Odo lya Alaro Bridge from Monday, 22nd July 2024, to conduct emergency repairs on the asphalt pavement and expansion joints. The project will span 90 days, with repairs divided into two phases.

“First Phase: Ojota Bound Lane: Maryland/Yaba to Ojota: Counterflow on inbound Maryland lane.
Ojota to Yaba: Continue on the same lane.

“Alternative routes: Alapere/Ogudu to Gbagada/Anthony Oke Bridge, then Ikorodu Road, Opebi Link Bridge to Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, then Maryland to Ikorodu Road, Ikorodu Road Service lane at Mobil Fuel Station to Gbagada/Ogudu, Jibowu to Ikeja: Maryland to Mobolaji Bank Anthony, then Sheraton/Opebi to Allen Avenue, Obafemi Awolowo Way, and Nurudeen Olowopopo Road.

“Second Phase: Maryland/Yaba Bound Lane: Ojota to Maryland/Yaba: Counterflow on inbound Ojota lane, Maryland to Ojota: Continue on the same lane.

“Alternative routes: Berger/Magodo/Toll gate to Alapere/Gbagada, then Anthony Oke Ramp to Ikorodu Road, Ikorodu/Ketu to Ojota Ramp Bridge, then Alapere, Opebi Link Bridge to Mobolaji Bank Anthony/Sheraton, then Maryland to Ikorodu Road.

“The Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi assures adequate traffic management and appeals for patience during the repairs.

“Advisory: Motorists are urged to be patient as partial bridge closure is essential for maintenance.”
