NPFL MD27: Ogbole Scores As Kwara United Uses Enyimba Int’l As A Stepping Stones To Scoot Relegation Zone

Kwara United defeated Enyimba Int’l 2-1 in the match day 27 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) to secure 3 valuable points.

The exhilarating, scintillating and excruciating encounter was played at Main Bowl of Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin today (Sunday)

It was a physical battle between both sides with grits, passion, tenacity, energy, power and determination in the early minutes of the encounter.

Kwara United showed and played with confidence, composure, intensity and strong mentality which was never saw in the players against the Champions in this campaign.

The athleticism of Wasiu Alalade, pace of Adeshina Gata and precision and power of Emmanuel Ogbole helped the home team against People’s Elephant in the high intensity game.

Kwara United were rewarded for their hard work as Emmanuel Ogbole opened the scoring in the eight minutes for Kwara United, as he roofed the ball in close range putting the stadium into an eruption with wild jubilation and celebration.

Enyimba Int’l who were without their first choice goalkeeper Olorunleke Ojo and head coach Finidi George due to a national team engagement showed also their attacking intents to search for an equalizer.

Showing of their attacking intent paid off in 38 minutes as Ikenna Cooper’s half volley with his left foot in the edge of the 18 yard restored the parity for Yemi Daniel led side.

Kwara United continue from where they left off after the restart of the second half came out gun blazing to restore their lead.

And in the 49 minutes of the encounter, Emmanuel Ogbole scored his second goal to restore the lead for Harmony Boys, turning the ball into the nets from a rebound after Enyimba goalkeeper Djesi Bassa failed to deal with the ball from a powerful shot from 35 meters by Ike ThankGod.

The intensity of the game didn’t drop as away side pressed and searched for a point close to the tail of the encounter but Kwara United remained resolute at the back defending with their heart and soul to seal the 3 valuable points in front of the home fans.

Enyimba Int’l Coach, Yemi Daniel,  Chigozie Chilekwu and Desmond Ojietefan were brandished a red card for unsportsmanlike conducts.

Enyimba standing in Coach, Yemi Daniel expressed his unhappiness how the center referee handled the second half of the encounter, congratulated Kwara United for the victory over his team.

Kabiru Dogo while speaking with journalists in post match interview, said it was a very difficult game praised the team for fighting to get the 3 valuable points.

He appreciated all the stakeholders in the state for showing the team work for the victory.

The victory for Kwara United moved them to 14th position on the log with 32 points with a game in hand and will face Shooting Stars in Ibadan in their next game.
