Future Stars player Joshua Aiyenugba son of Kwara United goalkeeper Dele Aiyenugba becomes the first player to score first ever goal at the 2023 Oba-Ara Football Competition as Future Stars defeated Olulade FC 3-1 in the opening match.
The football competition was organized and sponsored by O.O Oba-Ara Engineering Limited in commemoration of the 61st birthday of former Senate President, His Excellency, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, CON holding at Tobacco Field on Monday (today)
The thrilling encounter saw Future Stars drawing the first blood in 14 minutes with Joshua Aiyenugba scoring a beautiful goal after his long range shot beat Olulade FC goalkeeper at the near post.
But there lead did not last long as Olulade FC responded in 25 minutes with Bolaji Adam pouncing home after Future Stars failed to clear their line from lose ball as the game ends 1-1 in the first half.
After the restart of the second half in 55 minutes jersey number 3 Joshua Timileyin restored the lead for Future Stars with a fined finish and Joshua Aiyenigba scores his second goal to extended the lead with a sublime finish.
Olulade FC had the chance to came back into the game after a penalty was awarded, but Adam Abdullahi missed the spot kick as Future Stars goalkeeper came to the rescue with a fined save, giving his team 3-1 victory.
Also in the second match of the opening day 10-man Champions FC came from behind to beat Vision FC by 2-1.
It was a cagey encounter between the two sides as both scored thier first goal of the match from spot kick.
Usman Mohammed converted the spot kick to give Vision FC the lead but Ismaili Hammed restored the parity for Champions FC also from penalty.
Saka Abdulmajeed a former National U-17 invitee gave Champions FC the lead, taken an advantage of the error after Vision FC defender misjudging his steps to tap in from close range.
Champions FC played majority of the second half with a 10-men after their defender saw a red card for misconduct but his team defended with thier hearts to seal the victory.
The CEO Oba-Ara Engineering Limited Alhaji Yusuf Abulesowo expressed his happiness over the display of the teams in the opening day, assuring them an exciting gifts to all participating teams.
Action continues on Tuesday (tomorrow) as Future Stars will lock horns with Gaa-Akanbi FC by 2pm, while Okaa Sports will trade tackle with Champion FC by 4pm.
