Oba-Ara Cup 2023: Mohammed Goal Gives Vision FC Victory Over Gaa-Akanbi FC As Champions FC Through The Final

Vision FC and Champion FC have booked their place to the final of Oba-Ara Cup 2023.

The six teams football competitions was organized and sponsored by Oba-Ara Engineering Limited in commemoration of the 61st birthday of former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki CON.

The semifinals which was held at Unilorin Secondary School Field, Adewole saw soccer artistry in both matches.

It was a thrilling encounter in the first semifinal between Vision FC and Gaa-Akanbi FC as both poised for a place in final.

But it was Gaa-Akanbi FC who were the better side in the first half coming close to scoring.

There first chances came in half hour mark as their first chance was parried away by the goalkeeper after a fine play between top two strikers.

Vision FC who came with a game plan to defend, soaked the pressure throughout the first half.

Another brighter chance was missed from Gaa-Akanbi after their striker failed to bury the ball into the net from close range as center referee ended the first half.

After the restart of the second half and few minutes into the half, Vision FC scored from only the chance they had in the game.

Mohammed placed a header in a top right corner after a fined cross from the right to give Vision FC the lead.

Gaa-Akanbi pressed and searched for an equalizer but Vision FC stood to their ground defending with their heart and soul to book their place to the final.

The second semifinal between Champion FC and Future Stars saw another cagey encounter between the two sides.

The both sides came with energy, strength and power as chances were minimal throughout the encounter.

Despite that, Champion FC were the side came close to scoring as two of their shots hit the base of the goalposts as the first half ended 0-0.

The template of the first half was not different from the second half as no sides were with begging chances between them.

In towards the end, Champion FC shouted for penalty as Future Stars goalkeeper holding leg player of Champion FC but the referee waved play on.

Both sides searched and pressed but the game ended 0-0 and went into penalty shootout.

Champions FC booked their place to the final as they scored all their spot kicks with Future Stars missed two of their shoot out as the game ended 4-2 on penalties in favour of Champions FC.
