Oba-Ara Cup Final: Champion FC lifts 2023 Oba-Ara Cup, As Mustapha Gafar Shines In The Final

Mustapha Gafar displayed total heroic performance as Champion FC emerged the champion of 2023 Oba-Ara Cup, defeated Vision FC by 1-0.

The final match of the six teams football competition was organized and sponsored by Oba-Ara Engineering Limited in commemoration of the 61st Birthday of former Senate President Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki CON, held at Unilorin Secondary School Field Adewole Ilorin saw soccer artistry from both sides.

The thrilling encounter saw both teams pressed and searched for first goal in the early hour of the match as chances were missed from both sides.

But it was Champions FC who were close to scoring in the first 15 minutes of the game.

Vision FC who came with their pattern to defend and soak the pressure waiting for counter attack as they did prior to the final defended with their heart and soul.

But the only chances they had in the first half came from their number 99 jersey who was the best player and was turn on the pond of the the flesh of Champions FC defenders with his dribbling skills, missed a glorious chance when he dribbled past two defenders to balloon the ball over the goalpost.

In the half hour mark Champion FC had another brighter chance to take the lead as the ball hit the base of the post as referee signalled the end of first half.

After the restart of the second half Champion FC had another chance missed from goal mouth scramble after Vision FC goalkeeper failed to deal with a tame efforts from Champions FC number 9.

Champion FC kept pressing and pressing forward to search for the lead and it was at the close to hour mark they had the breakthrough for their hard work.

Mustapha Gafar pounced the ball into the nets after Vision FC goalkeeper misjudged his steps and failed to claim the ball from resulting free-kick and his defenders look helplessly and aimlessly to clear the ball from goal.

In the close to the tail of the match Vision FC came out of their flesh as they pressed and searched for an equalizer.

But Champion FC remained resolute at the back as they stood to their ground defending with strengths, tenacity, energy, hearts and souls as referee blown the final whistle as they went away with giant trophy to emerge champions of the first edition of the competition.

Promised fulfilled and delivered by the sponsored and the organizers as both finalists went away with medal and branded jersey donated by Oba-Ara Engineering Limited who were the sponsored of the competition.
