The OLAAJ Open Table Tennis Championship is an event spearheaded by the versatile tennis coach, Olawale Ajetumobi, aimed at discovering future stars and promoting youngsters in the sport.
The Alake Multipurpose Sports Hall in Ijeja, Abeokuta, Ogun State, has been bustling with activity since Monday, February 5th, as participants from all 36 states have arrived ahead of the event, which kicked off on Tuesday, February 6th, 2024.
Speaking with the press, Coach Olawale Ajetunmobi explained the significance of the event: “This project aims to promote and nurture future table tennis stars. Nigeria boasts many talented players, but initiatives like this are essential to showcase their skills. I cannot do this alone; I need strong support from individuals within Nigeria and abroad. This event is a way to bolster those talented players.”
Coach Ajetunmobi called on the people of Ogun State to come out in large numbers to enjoy the spectacle of the Table Tennis Championship in the ancient city of Abeokuta. He also urged table tennis enthusiasts nationwide and beyond to show their support for the event.
He appreciated those who supported him at this event: Dr. Soji Tayo, NTTF Vice President; Archbishop Adegbemi Adewale; Alhaji Salaudeen Abrahaman, widely known as ‘Alhaji Dollars’; Mr. Charles Olayinka, Bayelsa State Table Tennis Chairman; and others.
The OLAAJ Open Table Tennis Championship, which commenced on Tuesday, February 6th have come into conclusion on Thursday February 8th.
